A local court in north Kashmir district of Baramulla has sentenced a former Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander for killing a doctor in 2005.    The Additional Sessions Judge, Baramulla, awarded life imprisonment to Maqsood Ahmad Bhat, former HM Divisional Commander, for murdering Dr Reyaz Ahmad Bhat, block president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at Pattan in Baramulla district.    In its judgement the court said that death sentence could not be awarded in this case as it was murder without any enmity as there was nothing uncommon about this crime.    The judge said though an innocent life has been lost in the instant case but it dose not fall in the category of rarest of rare where the death sentence is warranted .    The court said therefore the convict is sentenced to imprisonment for life.    The HM commander Bhat had killed Dr Reyaz of Hanzura Pattan on June 16, 2005 and he was arrested in 2007.
