Kerala Government has issued a notification that there is no need for sanction to mine soil for construction activities for flats, including houses and also for commercial buildings upto 300 sq ft.
This relaxation is applicable to those who have obtained sanction for construction from Local Self Governments (LSGs), a press release said.
The relaxation has been made applicable to the 1967 Kerala Minor Mineral Concession Rules section eight, subsection one-B. But royalty amount should be paid if the soil needs to be transported to other place. As per the extraordinary gazette notification issued by the Government on November 19, 2012, declaration was to be submitted for ordinary soil mining. But the notification issued by the Central government included these soils under minor mineral. The Government failed to include this in the notification issued. The new notification has been issued now correcting this.
