Veteran Malayalam film director Sasikumar passes away

Veteran Malayalam film director Sasikumar passed away at a private hospital here today following old age illness.    He was 86.    Sasikumar, who directed more than 141 films, most of them hits, started his career as director with the direction of Kudumbini in 1964.    He also had a credit of directing over 84 films with the then ever green hero Prem Nazir. He has distinction to become  a director who directed largest number of films in the world and succeeded in pairing same hero and heroine in largest  number of films.    Kerala Government had honorned him with C Daniel Award in recognition to the contribution to the Malayalam film industry    From 1960′s to early 90′s he directed a record 141 films of which 140 was in Malayalam and one in Tamil. The interesting fact was that out of these films there were only a few flops. Many of his films were super duper hits of those time.
Sasikumar’s real name was  ‘Nambiathuserril Varkey John. He hailed hailed from Alappuzha. His father had oil mill business.
