Amid speculations over a possible Cabinet reshuffle, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today paid a visit to the Nair Service Society (NSS) headquarters and held a closeddoor discussion with NSS General Secretary G Sukumaran Nair for more than half hours. Meanwhile, sources close to NSS headquarters revealed that the Chief Minister had come to discuss issues related to Education Department with NSS chief and prevailing turmoil in the state politics did not surface in their discussions. ‘NSS had earlier asked the State government to amend the Kerala Educational Rules (KER) to revise the teacherstudents ratio in both government and aided schools as per the Right to Education (RTE) Act. The government had issued an order approving the demand for the previous year alone, which will be changed to older version from this year onwards. CM came to discuss this issue with the NSS and the general secretary demanded the government to implement the system on a permanent basis,’ sources said. Meanwhile, the visit has ignited speculations that Chief Minister came to seek the opinion of the NSS in the possible Cabinet reshuffle.
