Kerala unit President Ramachandran Kadanappally today said the party will observe August 9 (Quit India Day as ‘Deshiya Punararpana Dinam’ (National Re-dedication Day) and also organize a protest fast at Thiruvananthapuram on that day.
State and district unit party leaders will participate in the fast.
Talking to newsmen here Mr Ramachandran Kadanappally , former Devaswom minister said several defaming remarks against ‘father of the nation Mahathma Gandhi during his last days, were considered as treason. This year, the Congress (S) leader meeting held at Kannur decided to conduct an agitation. He alleged that the Narendara Modi government at the centre has not given a proper explanation to reports of files against Mahathma Gandhi’s assassination.
He also alleged the Union Government was attempting to rename the government schemes and projects named after Mahatma Gandhi, National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and Jawharlal Nehru Yojna.
