Indian Farmers Movement (INFARM) National Chairman Fr Joseph Ottaplackal has said farmers will organize a protest against the frequent price decline of rubber.
The agitation will be organized on July 27 at Stadium Corner, Kannur.
INFARM said farmers were facing crisis due to the ineffective control of the market price of rubber.
The price decline at international level and the shortage in use of rubber in domestic market also resulted in price decline, he claimed.
Mr Joseph Ottaplackal though the Centre and state government got crores in revenue through levies, both the governments failed to help the rubber farmers when they faced a crisis. Hence, rubber farmers under INFARM have decided to organize state level agitation.
In the first phase of protest, farmers will observe July 27 as ‘Avakasa Samrakshana Dhinam’ (protection of rights day). Signatures will be collected from farmers and a memorandum sent to Prime Minister on same day, a INFARM release said.
