The 17th State-wide foot and mouth disease vaccination programme in Kerala will begin in Kozhikode district of Kerala on August 1. Talking to reporters here Crisis Management Team Chairman Dr Madhavan and district co-ordinator, Animal Disease Control Project, Kozhikode said more than one lakh cattles would be vaccinated at the programme. They said vaccination was required for all cattles, except calfs below 3 months and those are pregnant, to prevent the disease.
The state reported few cases of FMD as compared to neighbouring state due to affective vaccination in the past, they added.
