Hundreds of young migrant labourers from Muslim community thronged the Noor Masjid (Mosque) near the old bus stand here today to participate in the Urdu Khutha- namaz in Urdu language after the traditional religious prayer of local residents on the occasion of Ramzan. The special prayer began at 1000 hrs and ended at 1115 hrs. The traditional prayer began at at 0800 hrs. About 200 migrant labourers from Odisha, Assam, Bengal, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh , who were mostly employed in construction industry, saloons, plywood factories near here participated in the special prayer organized by Masjid-noor Paripalana Sangam, a cultural organization. Imam Suhail Kattampalli, who was had worked in a mosque in Delhi, led the special Namaz and addressed the migrant labourers in Urdu language. He exhorted them to work for peace and communal harmony.
After the special prayers, the migrant workers embraced each other and then the Imam, After a feas, food packets were sent to migrant workers who could not attend the prayers, including those who belonged to other religions, President of the Mosque Committee Mr L P Asharaf said.
Many of the migrant labourers later visited the Payambalanm beach to celebrate Ramadan with Keralites belonging to other religions.
