Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala  today made it clear that the government would take all measures to ensure the safety of women and children in the state, checking harassment and exploitation against them effectively.    Inaugurating the ‘Nirbhaya Kerala, Surakshita Keralam’ project, introduced by the Kerala Police, aimed at the security of women and children in the state, he assured that the government would take all measures to ensure the safety of women at their working place, travelling, from family and other places in the society.    As a pilot project, it would be implemented in the Kochi Corporation limits, and once it was found successful, it would  be extended to other corporations and later across the state,  he said.    Stating that even though the literacy rate in the state was higher than other states, it was found that the women passengers were finding it difficult to move freely because of the harassment by mails, he expressed hope that with the project the women would be able to walk at any place at any time without fear.    Speaking on the occasion, Kerala Excise Minister K Babu stressed the need for an overall change in the society. The attitude towards women and children to be changed, he added.
