The trade unions joint agitation committee will organize a Secretariat and Collectorates picketing in all districts on August 7.
Addressing a press conference here today, CITU Secretary K P Sahadevan said the picketing would be held to demand withdrawal of the ban on quarry mining, settling crisis in construction sector, checking price rise of the materials of constructions, reforming welfare benefits, revising pension to Rs 2000, among others.
Mr Sahadevan said trade union workers of CITU, INTUC, AITUC, BMS, HMS and STU would participate in the agitation. Thousands of construction workers from all trade unions would attend the collectorate picketing.
Mr Sahadevan and other trade union district leaders said the construction field in the state was facing serious crisis. Banning quarrying across the state by the government had resulted into unemployment to lakhs of people in construction sector and families had been pushed to starvation.
