Police arrested four persons yesterday in connection with the robbery at the Indian Bank ATM at Nettapakkam three months back, Puduchery senior superintendent of police Om Veer Singh said here today. Talking to newspersons here today, Mr Singh said that the accused were identified as Moorthy (23), Lakshmanan (20), Silambarasan (22) and Velmurugan(20). Another one involved in the crime reportedly surrendered, he added. Mr Singh said while the police were on a routine vehicle check here, they intercepted three persons in a single bike and on interrogation it was found that the motor bike was a stolen one. On further interrogation,they confessed of committing the crime. It may be noted that the accused had robbed the Indian Bank ATM at Nettapakkam near ehre three months back and took away Rs.10.5 lakhs. They did not break open the ATM Machine and instead used the key and password to rob the money. It came to know that the same gang had made an unsucessful attempt to rob the Bharathidasan cooperative bank here. They escaped into the cover of darkness when the alaram started rining and a beat constable rushed to the spot. The gang also made unsucessful attempts to rob an ATM of Axis Bank here three weeks abck, Tata indicam ATM and a bank in Villippuram. Police seized Rs.2.1 lakhs and two motor cycles from their possession. They are being produced before a judge today and get remanded. Mr Singh demanded the installation of CCTVs and alaram in ATMs.
