Loss of revenue to the state due to closure of bars as part of total prohibition in a phased manner would not be a set back, Kerala Finance Minister K M Mani today said.
Talking to reporters here he said the decision to shut down 412 bars and another 312 such outlets pending Kerala High Court verdict was taken as a social commitment of the government and it will not be reversed.
Stating the Congress-led United Democratic Front government took the decision collectively, he said it would not be sabotaged due to decline in revenue.
On controversy relating to reported ban on government appointments, he said the government proposed certain restrictions on new appointments. Appointments to regular posts will be as usual, he clarified.
