The 87th anniversary of the Maha Samadhi of renowned philosopher and social reformer of Modern Kerala, Sree Narayana Guru, was observed in Kerala today.
Rituals, commemoration meetings and fasting marked the anniversary of the ‘Maha Samadhi’ of Sree Narayana Guru all over the state. The day began with a special pooja, ‘Havanam’ and recitation of Gurudeva krithis at the Sree Narayana Gurukulam at Chempazhanthi where the Guru was born and the Sivagiri Math at Varkala in Thiruvananthapuram district.
Sree Narayana Guru attained Samadhi at Sivagiri Math at Varkala, where thousands of pilgrims visit every year, to pay homage to the man who dramatically changed the face of social life in Kerala and is a source of inspiration for all social reformers.
Various units of the SNDP Yogam also observed ‘Maha Samadhi’ with various programmes, including fasting, community prayers, feasts, conferences besides paying floral tributes.
