Kerala Contractors Association has said that they would never accept any tenders from the Kerala Government in protesting against hike on essential commodities and nonpayment of compensation to their dues by the government.
The contractors in the state were facing serious financial crisis because of the delay in clearing in bills for more than ten months and the hike of construction materials by 40 per cent, association state president Varghese Kanampally and organizing secretary K K Radhakrishnan told reporters in Kochi today.
Though the government had assured that the dues of Rs 400 crore towards November and December 2013 bills would be cleared before Onam, the government miserably failed to clear the same till now, they alleged.
Stating that it was the government to clear the tar estimates upto Rs one crore, the dues on this account was accumulated to Rs 96 crore, they said because of non clearing of Bills, construction works to the tune of Rs 6000 were not being made.
