Railway for a cleaning drive on Gandhi Jayanthi Day

In compliance with the instructions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Railway Ministry will launch a special cleanliness campaign on October 2, Gandhi Jayanthi Day.
The aim of the campaign is to keep the work sites and Station colonies clean and thereby to convey the message of ‘cleanliness’ through  demonstrative efforts, a release said.
The intention is also to create an awareness among the Railway staff, commuters and rail using public, by making regular announcements, displaying postures, banners and electronic display boards and distribute pamphlets.
Publicity on the penal provisions against littering in Railway premises and action against the persons violating them, are part of the campaign. The campaign is proposed to be undertaken in the form of ‘Shramadan’ at all Stations.
The co-operation and support of the Local Administrative bodies, Rail Passengers Associations, Non Government Organisations, NSS/NCC/Red Cross, Nature Club, Scouts and Guides and students of nearby Schools  and Colleges, are solicited for this.
