The Centre has approved assistance to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for loss due to hail storm and drought.
The High Level Committee (HLC) for Central Assistance for natural disasters, at its meeting, has approved the assistance for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for losses due to hailstorm in February-March this year, drought in Kharif season last year and Phailin, Helen and Lehar cyclones last year, a Home Ministry spokesman said today.
The Committee headed by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, also reviewed the case of loss to Madhya Pradesh due to hailstorm in February-March, this year but up-held its earlier decision in the matter. ‘It has also been decided that for medium and long term restoration, a separate proposal would be sent by the state government for the plan assistance’, the spokesman said.
The proposal of Kerala Government for assistance for the losses due to floods during 2014 was also approved, subject to reconciliation. The proposal of assistance to Maharashtra relief for loss due to hailstorm was also considered and the assistance was rationalized, he said.
Besides the Home Minister, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh, Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman and high officials from the Ministries concerned attended the meeting.
