Police have taken eight people, including a minor girl into custody during raids conducted in beauty parlors and massage centres in the Kochi city today.
According to city Police Commissioner, the police had conducted 13 raids so far and four cases have been registered in this regard and took many victims, including a girl from Mizoram and a 17-year-old girl from Kerala in these raids.
The police had information that women, including minor girls were brought from other states and sexually exploited in these centres under the pretext of massaging, the official said.
Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala had informed that the government had information that the functioning of massage centres and beauty parlors were not good and sexual abusement cases were taking place and ordered the police to conduct surprise raids in these institutions.
