Taking a cue from its rival BJP which broke its traditional ties with ally Shiv Sena ahead of ensuing assembly elections, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) snapped its 15-year-old ties with the Congress.
An announcement to this effect was made by former Union Minister Praful Patel in presence of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and state party president Sunil Tatkare, here.
Like the saffron alliance, the Congress-NCP combine was also broken apparently over the issue of Chief Ministership, which NCP wanted to share on rotation basis for two-and-half years. NCP had also demanded for 144 seats.
While announcing snapping of ties, Mr Patel said that they will enter into truck with other like-minded parties.
