Joining the rest of the country, Kerala will observe Daan Utsav during the Gandhi Jayanthi week from October 2 to 8.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will spend upto an hour with the less privileged section of people at seven places in Kerala as part of the festival.
Daan Utsav is a festival of giving. It inspires people to share their wealth, time and love among those who need them the most in the society. The festival enables one to experience the joy of giving.
As part of Daan Utsav in Kerala, on the Gandhi Jayanti day of October 2, the Chief Minister will visit Rajaji Nagar at Chengal Choola here, Old-Age Home at Azhikode on October 3, Home for Destitute at Piravom on October 4, Puthupally on October 5, Kusumagiri Navajyothi Autism School in Ernakulam on October 6, NISH, Thiruvananthapuram on October 7, Marthoma Old-Age Home at Tiruvalla on October 8 and Tavannur Social Welfare Complex in Malappuram on October 9. Daan Utsav was first observed in India in 2009.
The festival is going to be held for the first time in Kerala.
