Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has directly received 9,116 petitions through his Visitors’ Centre at State Secretariat which started functioning a year ago. The Visitors’ Centre was open for 134 days on which the Chief Minister was at Thiruvananthapuram and the he directly received petitions from people, official sources said today.
Average of 70 people come to the centre with petitions after 1500 hrs everyday. Whenever he is in the capital city, he reaches the Visitors’ Centre without fail. Other mechanisms in the Secretariat like Public Grievance Redressel Cell, 24X7 Call Centre and Sutharya Kerala to resolve the petitions of people. But through the visitors centre the petitions can be resolved at a faster pace. It was due to security issues that the visitor’s centre was opened for receiving petitions, which otherwise was done at his office.
The visitor’s centre was opened on October 11 last year. The Centre will be opened only on days on which the Chief Minister at Thiruvananthapuram. On other days petitions will be received at his office.
