He also said if Mr Sreejesh was seriously considering to back his home state, the government would extend all possible facilities to him.
There was a promise during 2010 in this regard. While compared with his present position, there would be certain decrease in his salary and the issue would be discussed in the next cabinet meeting. Mr Sreejesh who is working as Manager with Indian Overseas Bank, expressed his desire and told the Chief Minister, who visited the former’s house in Kochi to congratulate him, that he would like to come back to Kerala, if he have good opportunities provided, even compromising by taking less monetary benefit as he wanted to do something for his home state.
Pointing out there is no prominence to hockey in the state, he told the Chief Minister that he was ready to do something for giving a new lease of life to hockey in the state. Mr Chandy said that though he had tried to contract Mr Sreejesh immediately after the Indian team won the gold, it failed and that was why he came here to congratulate him. Though Hockey was the game of India, its importance has faded in the country and the gold was a great achievement for India. Mr Chandy also said he came personally to congratulate Mr Sreejesh.
