Twelve SIMI activists arrested in 1998 on charges of conspiracy and anti-national activities were produced before JMFC Court in Hubli, Karnataka today.
The culprits arrested at Honnali, Davanagere and Hubli, who were kept in different jails including in Tiruvananthapuram, Ahamadabad, Kerala and Honnali, were brought amid tight security.
This is for the first time they were produced before the Court. Whenever the case come up for hearing the Police were expressing their inability to produce them on security ground. However, when the Judge insisted and gave clear instruction to produce them they were brought today.
Those produced included suspected terrorists Nasir, Asadulla, Shakil Ahamed, Mohammed Asif, Mirja Ahamad, Shibli, Shafi Hussain, Nagori, Kamrudin, Mohammed Yasin, Shadoli, Mohammed Ansar, Yahyakhan.
The arrested were allegedly involved in conspiracy to explode important government installations with bomb. After recording their statement, Judge Gopalakrishna Kolli posted the case for further hearing on October 15.
