Inspired with the formation of Indian Super League (ISL), Kerala Football Association with ESA Media is planning to develop a professional beach football in the state, on the lines of ISL format, said KFA officials here today.
Announcing the formal launch of Kerala Beach League at a joint press meet in Kochi by the KFA and the ESA Media officials claimed that this would the first ever professional beach football league on the line of ISL in the country.
Stating that Beach Football, also known as beasal, was started in Brazil and now it was a popular sports across the world, KFA General Secretary said that KFA is looking forward to the partnership with ESA Media to develop beach football in Kerala and the KBL would be a game changer for both football players and fans alike in Kerala.
Claiming that the KBL was a new initiative not just in the state but also for the first time in the country and would bring more attention for the sport in the state, he said it will help position India, especially Kerala as a global destination for the sport.
Such a novel idea of KBL would not only help to bring and promote talented players into the limelight but also show their prowess and help the state to host more international tournaments in the near future, he added.
