The 22nd Communist Party of India Congress will be held in Puducherry from March 25 to 29 next year, Party National Secretary D Raja said today. Talking to mediapersons, Mr Raja said selected representatives from all the states in the country would take part in the Congress which was being held in Puducherry for the first time, though the national event was held in Chennai and Madurai in adjoining Tamil Nadu.
Stating that when the organisational functioning and efficiency of the local CPI unit was considered, the conference would be a success, Mr Raja sought the support of all sections in Puducherry to make it a success.
Mr Raja said a reception committee with leaders like D Pandiyan and R Nallakannu (Tamil Nadu), Panniyan Ravindran (Kerala) and Dr K Narayana (National Committee member) as patrons, R Viswnathan, Na Ra Kalainathan and Salim (Puducherry) as President, General Secretary and Treasurer and with five VicePresidents and four secretaries was constituted and the reception committee had already started work for the conference.
