Sabarimala Pilgrimage: Rs 2.25 Cr sanctioned to concerned panchayats

The Kerala Government has sanctioned a special grant of Rs 2.25 crore for various panchayats to arrange basic facilities and to carry out cleanliness activities before the commencement of pilgrimage season at the famed Sabarimala hill shrine.
Briefing newspersons after a meeting of the state Cabinet, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the grant, sanctioned for 19 panchayats and two municiplaities, would be released before November 1.
He said Erumeli panchayat would get Rs 30 lakh followed by Chengannur and Pathanamthitta Municipalities- Rs 25 lakh each. While Vadasserikkara and Kulanada panchayats would get Rs 15  lakh each, Konni, Koruthodu and Seethathodu would get Rs ten lakh each.
The Chief Minister said a sum of Rs 80 lakh more had been sanctioned to carry out the renovation activities of Varkala Janardhana Swami Temple pond.
