It has been four days when the very severe cyclonic storm Hudhud struck Visakhapatnam in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh but still there were some areas where power supply was yet to be restored. Reports suggested that till now help in the form of food and water was yet to reach various villages near the city.
While talking to a daily, officials in charge of the power supply in the city said the cyclone had almost damaged the power infrastructure in the city and it would take them many days to restore power supply.
On the other hand, there were reports that in many areas, shortage of the daily essentials came to an end and also, the public transport which was put on halt on Sunday, began functioning once again. The train services towards Visakhapatnam were also resumed after the racks were fixed by the railways authorities.
The residents of the city faced lot of problems not only because of no electricity but also because they were not even getting essential items like milk. Also, communication in the city came to a standstill due to the havoc caused by Hudhud. The District Administration Officials made sure that power supply was restored in the hospital by late last evening. The airport’s infrastructure was also badly damaged by the cyclone and reports said the flight services would resume in the city from Saturday onwards.
