On investigation into the tragic incident in which a woman was set ablaze using alcohol in train compartment who later succumbed to her burns, police today released the sketch of the suspect and a search to nab the 25-30 years old man is on.
A 45-year-old woman from Malappuram district was set ablaze in a train compartment on Monday night. The incident happened in Kannur to Alappuzha Express train at 4:40 am and the woman succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday morning.
The train was to depart at 5 AM and there was no one else in the compartment. She ran out to the platform after she was set on fire. Police suspect some drug trafficking links into the incident.
Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said, “High level inquiry ordered under the superintendent of police to probe the incident. Security has been beefed up at railway stations. We are asking railways to put women compartment in the middle of the train and install more CCTV cameras.”
The railway police is inquiring into the matter and have registered a case of murder. Some commuters have given the statement that there was a fight between a man and the woman.
