Thrissur | Kerala Governor, P Sathasivam said the Kerala Kalamandalam Deemed University for Arts and Culture has become a foremost and finest public institution for imparting quality training in Kathakali, Koodiyattam and Mohiniyattam besides popular Thullal and Padayani. Speaking at the Nila National Dance and Music Festival at Kalamandalam at Cheruthuruthy near Shornur, Sathasivam said the institution had made a great progress in a short period since its establishment in 2005. Kerala had an incredible variety of art forms of extreme attraction and their beauty was boundless, he said, adding, they present a picture of absolute grace in all respects while the artists stage them, he added. In his presidential address, Minister for Cultural Affairs, K C Joseph said the Deemed University would be elevated to a full fledged University shortly. The Governor later presented the Fellowships and Awards of the Kalamandalam to the winners for their outstanding contributions in respective fields.
