Kochi | Cochin International Airport (CIAL), which has implemented various environment friendly practises, is undertaking a re-branding exercise on November 17.
Kerala Fisheries and Ports Minister K Babu will unveil the new brand identity, handing over the same to V J Kurian, Additional Chief Secretary and CIAL Managing Director, a CIAL press release said.
The airport which requires about 55,000 units of power per day, will need 1.1 lakh units a day when the new terminal is commissioned.
We plan to produce the entire power requirement of the airport through solar power, an official said.
The airport has already set up a one MW solar power station and proposes to install another 7 MW plant which is in the pipeline. There are also plans to set up eight mini hydel stations, for which the survey has been completed.
CIAL is the parent company of Cochin International Airport, the first greenfield airport built under Public Private Partnership in India.
On unveiling the new brand identity of CIAL, Kurian, founder Managing Director said the branding effort would give a fillip to CIAL’s image in the global aviation sector.
We are also setting up a comprehensive drinking water scheme for residents of three adjoining panchayats’.
With the enlargement of their scope of services to include other revenue streams, as well as the restatement of their vision and mission in expanding beyond the running of a single airport, CIAL had taken the decision to position and brand their organization. A tendering exercise based on technical merit and financial viability was conducted earlier in the year.
