Thiruvananthapuram | In the much hyped bar bribe row the state vigilance and anti curruption bureau today recorded a statement from state finance minister K.M. Mani. Vigilance sleuths led by SP Rajmohan reached the minister’s official residence in Thiruvananthapuram for the procedure.
Later the minister told media persons that the incident was not to be termed in the form of a questioning but he made his point with the officers in the matter and he considered it as an opportunity to present his side of the story. He denied accepting any kind of favours from the bar owners.
The vigilance is cunducting primary investigation in the allegation of bribery by a section of liquor bar owners led by Kerala bar owners association president Biju Ramesh that the minister accepted one crore rupees from the association promising to allow reopening of the bars closed down earlier on a verdict by the high court. In his statement Mani agreed to the allegation of a meeting by himself with association representatives, but it was for accepting their memmorandum, according to the minister, it is learnt.
