Kochi | The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the implementing agency of Kochi metro poject, has given the final manufacturing clearance for the Rolling Stock for Kochi Metro Project today.
The clearance was accorded in line with the discussions held between KMRL and DMRC with Alstom on January 16 and 17 in Delhi, a release said here today.
With this all the impediments till date have been cleared, which would ensure timely delivery of the coaches by January 2016, it said. Though the LOA for rolling stock was issued in August 2014, the manufacturing clearance was not given to Alstom citing some changes from the earlier specification given in tender. Alstom wanted to incorporate few changes as Kochi Metro wanted a speedy delivery of the coaches.
To sort out the matter, a three-member committee had been constituted with Ved Mani Tiwari, Director KMRL, H S Anand, Director Rolling Stock, DMRC, and Jitendra Tyagi, DMRC Director (works), Delhi and the board member of KMRL , which met Delhi on January 16 and 17, it said adding that based on this discussion the issues were settled and temporary approval was given on next week itself and the DMRC had completed all formalities on this issue and given the final manufacturing clearance to Alstom.
