The 29-year-old middleweight boxer last participated in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow last year where he clinched the silver medal. Apart from Vijender, many other star athletes like Saina Nehwal, Sushil Kumar and Yogeshwar Dutt have also decided to give the Games a miss.
The National Games event is going to be held at seven districts of Kerala in 30 venues. The first event of the Games will be the opening ceremony to be held, tomorrow evening at the Green Field Stadium with cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar as the chief guest.
