Kerala traders to go for e-commerce

Kozhikode | Faced with stiff competition from online trading, about one million shop owners in Kerala have launched online marketing to protect their business interest. Talking to reporters here Kerala Vyaparai Vyasayi Ekopana Samithi President T Nazirudeen and Wintech Infoway (India) Pvt Ltd Executive Director E Manzoor today said their products will be available on www.kabooliwala.com
Understanding the fact that more and more customers are turning to online shopping, the traders with technical know how from Wintech decided to go online marketing through Kabooliwala, a next generation shopping experience.
The traders from outside the state doing business worth billion of rupees not only hitting the local businessmen but the state exchequer too by way of commercial tax worth millions, they said.    With going online, the traders in the state also expected enhanced marketing of their products to large clientele, they added.
Kerala Commercial Taxes Department has recently slapped a fine of Rs 536.3 million on four online trading companies including Flipkart and Jabong for allegedly doing illegal business in the state.
E-commerce major Flipkart has been asked to pay a fine of Rs 471.5 million, Jabong.Com Rs.38.9 million, Vector e-commerce Rs 22.3 million and Robemall Apparels Rs 3.6 million for the year 2012-13 and 2013-14.
