Thiruvananthapuram | In a tragic incident, a 19-year-old netball player from Maharashtra was drowned in Shanghumugham beach here while taking photographs with his teammates.
District Collector Biju Prabhakar said postmortem report had confirmed that the death of Mayuresh Pawar was due to drowning. Though he was rushed to a nearby private hospital, he died on the way. He belonged to Satara District in Maharashtra.
Earlier, it was suspected that death occurred due to a heart attack. The District Collector said the body would be taken to his native place by air tomorrow morning. Three representatives from the Maharashtra team and an official from the Kerala netball association would accompany the body.
