Chief Secretary unhappy over huge money spent for Games opening

Thiruvananthapuruam | Kerala Chief Secretary Giji Thomson today said the expenditure for the opening ceremony of the 35th National Games was very high.
Talking to newspersons here after attending a meeting of the Organisers of the event, he said crores of rupees was spent for the opening ceremony of the Games, this could have been reduced if there was proper financial management.
Later, the Chief Secretary, who visited the Press Club here, assured that there would be an inquiry into the missing of 500 laptops purchased for various offices including media centres set up in connection with the National Games.
Meanwhile, Opposition leader in Kerala Assembly V S Achuthanandan demanded a detailed inquiry into the corruption allegations raised in connection with the National Games.
Government Chief Whip P C George also demanded a CBI inquiry into alleged wide-level corruptions in connection with the conduct of the National Games.
Official Sources said the next Cabinet meeting would discuss Superstar Mohan Lal’s offer to return the fees charged for Lalisom, a musical programme staged by Mohan Lal during the opening ceremony of the 35th National Games.
The superstar faced severe criticism from various social media for the poor performance of his mega musical programme, Lalisom.
