Thiruvananthapuram | Kochi girl Elizabeth Susan Koshy today won her second gold for Kerala in the shooting ranges of the 35th National Games. After struggling in the initial round, Elizabeth Susan came back strongly to win the gold in the 50 M Rifle 3 position for women.
Vedangi Tuljapurkar of Maharashtra won the silver and Sandhya Winfred of Tamil Nadu got bronze. Elizabeth Susan won the first gold in the 50 M Rifle prone category. After winning the medal, she said ‘With the winning of second gold, I have proved that the shooting is not just for men, but girls could also produce good results, and more and more people would join in this sports.’
‘I had little upset in the first stage, as I was in the fifth position. But, in the final round, with the support from the people gathered here, inspired me and that helped me to win the gold after initial set backs. Regarding her future plans, she said she had couples of competitions after the national games at the same venue.
‘I am confident that, I can take part in the 2016 Olympics and would win a gold for India,’ she said adding that the world class shooting ranges would help her much to prepare for the Olympics.
