Thiruvananthapuram | Defending champions Kerala men suffered a setback in water polo as they lost to last year’s runner up Services in the shoot out, while Kerala women snatched the gold routing Bengal 6-1 in the last league.
In a keenly contested final league round match, both the teams were level scoring seven goals each in the regulation time. However, in the shoot out to decide the winner, a brilliant work by the goal keeper, saved the shot of V K Adarsh. This ended the supremacy of the hosts, who were the champions in the last four editions.
With this win, Kerala picked up one gold and a silver.
Maharashtra bagged the bronze in men’s water polo, while Maharashtra and Karnataka won the silver and bronze, respectively, in the women’s category.
