Kerala Ministerial delegation to visit riot-hit Thuneri

Kozhikode | A Kerala Ministerial delegation led by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will visit riot-hit Thuneri near politically sensitive Nadapuram in the district later  today.
Sources said here today the delegation comprising Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, IT and industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty and Panchayat and Social Justice Minister M K Muneer would also visit the house of Shibin Bhaskaran, a DYFI activist killed at Thuneri recently.
An all-party meeting will be held at Vadakara to chalk out ways and means to prevent escalating violence witnessed in the locality after the murder.    According to reports 73 houses were destroyed and records set on fire in the retaliatory attacks.
The CPI (M) had accused Indian Union Muslim League, a partner in the Congress-led United Democratic Front Government, of being responsible for the killing.
However, the IUML district committee had denied the charge. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party has called for a hartal in the Nadapuram region in protest against arrest of one of its activists in connection with arson.
Police said the hartal in Nadapuram Assembly Constituency area, Purameri and Kunnummal Panchayats was by and large peaceful as no untoward incident was reported so far.
