Thiruvananthapuram | Hosts Kerala girls gave a good start on the 10th day of the ongoing 35th National Games, adding five medals to their kitty, including one gold, three silver and one bronze in the finals held in the morning session today.
Powerhouse Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) continued their domination as they picked up one gold medal each in cycling 15 km scratch and C-4 men event while the Kerala women cyclists annexed all the three medals in the 10-km scratch in cycling
The other gold medal settled today was bagged by MP in canoeing 1000 m men event. In a spirited 10 Km Scratch event Kerala cyclists, Mahitha Mohan, Rejami Vijaakumar and Bismi Said u Koya bagged the gold, silver and bronze respectively maintaining their lead right from the start.
Mahita won the gold with timing of 20:15.234 seconds, while Rejani pedalled the silver taking 20:15.234 seconds and Bismi completed the talk in 20:16.194 seconds. In the Canoeing events, servicemen dominated and won the gold in 15-km scratch event with their team member Sathbir Singh, taking 00:31.5r seconds while Rajesh Chandrasekhar of Tamil Nadu completed the task in 31:64.646 seconds and Pankaj Kumar of Haryana finishing the target in 21:31.842 seconds.
However, in women’s 1000-m canoeing single event, Madhya Pradesh girl Inaocha Devei Mayanglambam, in a neck-and-neck, fight, snatched the gold touching the finishing time in 5:19:65 seconds, from Kerala girl Nithya Kuriakose who had to satisfy herself with the silver finishing the row 1.23 seconds behind the winner.
Nithya finished the target in 5:20.88 seconds while Indira Deveo Khwairakpam of Manipur clinched the bronze clocking 5:58.72 seconds.
