New Delhi | Aam Adami Party chief Arvind Kejriwal will get ‘Z’ category security cover with at least 30 Delhi police armed commandos after he is elected the leader of legislative party.
A senior police officer said as per protocol, a chief minister enjoys ‘Z’ category cover due to threat perception. The security will be deployed soon after his appointment as the leader of legislative party, said the officer. Mr Kejriwal, who lives in Ghaziabad, is currently protected by 12 police personnel.
The massive mandate which AAP gained in history’s most keenly watched and contested Delhi Assembly elections has come as a great setback for the Narendra Modi-led NDA government and underlined the growing strength of parliamentary democracy in the country.
AAP is slated to win 67 seats in the 70-member Delhi assembly. Mr Kejriwal will take oath as chief minister on February 14 at Ramlila Maidan.
