Thiruvananthapuram | M Meenakumaridevi of Kerala beat Sunita Yadav of Goa to enter the semi final of Women’s boxing in the 35th National Games today. In the Women’s 57-60 Kg category, Meenaakumaridevi defeated Sunita Yadav (17-10) ensuring a medal for Kerala in the final game. In the final, Meenakumaridevi will fight against Geeta Solanki of Delhi, who also entered the semi final by defeating Anjima Khakhalary of Arunachal Pradesh (20-16). In the Women’s 69-75 Kg category, Princy Joseph of Kerala, who is a medal prospect for the State, made abortive attempt to block the punches of her opponent Aruna Mishra of Jharkhand. In the Women’s 48-51 Kg category, Krishna Thapa of Uttarakhand defeated Neelam Mehta of Uttar Pradesh (27-13). In the same category, Tonibala Chanu of Arunachal Pradesh trounced Dolly Singh of West Bengal (10-3). In the Women’s 69-75 Kg, Marthamma Sattivada of Andhra Pradesh won against Swarnasikha Biswal of Odisha (7-0). The finals would be held tomorrow.
