Lucknow | Samajwadi Party General Secretary and Uttar Pradesh Urban Development Minister Mohammad Azam Khan today proposed a temple of party president Mulayam Singh Yadav, if the leader permits so. The announcement of Mr Khan comes in wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s temple at Rajkot in Gujarat.
In a statement here, Mr Khan said he would place the proposal before the ‘Netaji’ (Mulayam Singh Yadav) and if he agrees, then a grand temple would be constructed similar like that of Modi in Gujarat. Mr Yadav is a popular leader of the country and has crores of his followers hence he also deserves a temple in his name. Several living political leaders and actors have temples in their names so there is no objection on Mulayam Singh Yadav temple, if the leader allows, Mr Khan said.
However, the Prime Minister was furious over the temple in his name and said, This is shocking and against India’s great traditions. Building such temples is not what our culture teaches us. Stressing that though his comments were not liked by the governor or BJP, Khan said the remarks made by Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti were not taken note of.
Khan said that governor’s post was of high esteem and it was not in keeping with his dignity to be a part of any political dispute. Referring to his arch rivals and political opponents, the Nawabs of Rampur, Khan raised a question on their role in the Independence struggle and said after gaining freedom, the traitors donned white caps to represent the poor and deprived people of Rampur.
Terming himself as very weak, Khan said he and the weak society that he represents might have to face a lot of harm due to the views of the governor and the forces that have a relationship of hatred with them will gain strength. Khan had been making statements against the governor who in turn had in his interaction with the media asked the ruling SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and Chief Minister Akhlesh Yadav to take cognisance of it.
