Thiruvananthapuram | In a evenly contested match Asian Games medalist P C Thulasi of Kerala, annexed the gold in the women’s single in Badminton overpowering Junior National Champion Rituparna Das of Telengana in straight sets.
It was the 19-year-old girl was maintained the lead and dominated the game almost throughout against her experienced rival Thualsi and even took the lead.
In both the sets, the Telengana girl was leading 17-16, but sensing the danger and need of more strategy, Thulasi opted the tactics of defensive along with attacking to pressure her junior champion. This tactics clicked well, and the senior player won the game handing out 21-18 and 21-18. But on the close of the game in both the sets experienced Thulasi opted some crucial tactics to win the title, pushing Das to the second sport for silver. In the team events in badminton, Das had defeated Thulasi, and this win was an avenge to Thulasi. In the mixed doubles, Badminton Mixed Doubles Arun Vishnu and Aparna Balan of Kerala won the gold defeating Tarun Kona and Sikki Reddy of Telenga.
