Thrissur | A security guard of the luxury condominium Sobha City, seriously injured in an assault by an enraged businessman resident who also tried to run him over with a Hummer SUV, died at a hospital today.
The guard, Chandrabose,52, had stopped the vehicle owned by Mohammed Nisham 39, Managing Director of Kings Group of companies, in the early hours of January 29.
Nisham, a resident of the luxury condominium at Puzhakal near here, who was in the car got into a raged reportedly over the delay in opening the gates and started beating him up. When the guard tried to flee, Nisham hit him with the vehicle. The injured man was put into the SUV and was subjected to further assault by Nisham in the parking lot of the complex.
Chandrabose was admitted to a nearby private hospital in a critical condition. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had visited him the hospital and offered Rs 25,000 for the medical expenses.
The guard was on ventilator support after undergoing surgery in the abdominal area. He had also suffered multiple fractures, including in the ribs and forearm. Nisham has been arrested under Section 307 of IPC that deals with attempt to murder.
According to police, Nisham was previously booked in April 2013 for permitting his nine-year-old son to drive his Ferrari F430, while his five-year-old second son sat in the passenger seat. The police had arrested him and let him off on bail. This crime is the 11th case against him, police said.
