Kochi | New Jersey based Orion India Systems Pvt. Ltd., having offices in Kochi, Mumbai and Hyderabad, has come out with a ground-breaking, out-of-box technology solution, ‘Orion LICR’,  involving a re-purposed digital pen and a tablet device that digitizes handwritten data.
Introducing the new product here last night Orion India Systems Pvt Limited  India operations director   Narendrakumar claimed that the digital pen captures handwritten data on the fly and transfers it wirelessly to the accompanying tablet, from which it can be instantly transferred to an organization’s centralized servers.
By eliminating manual data entry, the solution promises to expedite the digitization process, while minimizing the possibility for human error, he said adding that the solution could be used in any scenario where handwritten data has to be digitized.
The device set would also be of immense use to universities and school boards that now manually feed marks into the computer or scan hundreds of thousands of answer sheets, he said adding that ‘this has been causing undue delay in the publication of results, adversely impacting the students.’
‘Orion, LICR can be used to capture handwritten marks off the top sheet of answer booklets in real-time, and to transfer the data to the University’s or Board’s central servers via the accompanying tablet,’ Mr Narendrakumar said adding that the tablet also handled application of question paper rubrics and totalling of marks.
A major advantage of the device is that it can be used by multiple users in an evaluation camp, he claimed and added that it would also minimize the cost involved and  capture the date and time of evaluation.
However, no residual data is left on the tablet or the pen after submission, he added.
