Allahabad | A newly-floated Sri Krishna Sena today laid the foundation stone to construct a Modi temple in Handia tehsil here. Jalalpur village gram pradhan Ashwini Yadav was the chief guest of the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony, which was attended by horde of people drawn from the nearby villages.
Sena’s national president Pushparaj Singh Yadav was also present along with around 100 activists of the organisation. The organisation, which came into existance in December, has selected Jalalpur village, around 32 km from the city, to construct the Krishna-Modi temple which will have both the idol of Lord Krishna and a statue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The site is on the Allahabad-Varanasi highway.
Talking on phone from Handia, Sena’s spokesperson Santosh Kumar Suman said that the foundation stone for the temple has been laid by the pradhan and others. The temple would be constructed on 8 biswa of land in Jalalpur village. ‘We will spend around Rs one crore for the construction of the temple,’ he said, adding that in next six months, the temple would be inaugurated.
Mr Suman said the entire amount of the construction would be collected through donations. The Sri Krishna Sena has around 150 members, all from Allahabad district. Earlier, a similar temple came to existence in the adjoining Kaushambi district but the Prime Minister had criticised such efforts.
