Thiruvananthapuram | Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy last night approved Kerala Congress (M)’s demand for removing Government Chief Whip P C George from his post.
Earlier, Kerala Congress (M) Chairman and Finance Minister K M Mani had written a letter to the Chief Minister that Mr George should be divested of the chief whip post and the party was withdrawing him as the partys representative to attend the Liaison Committee meeting of the United Democratic Front (UDF).
Both the demands of KC(M), the second largest constituent of the UDF, were fulfilled with the decision of the Chief Minister, who said a coalition party had the right to withdraw its nominee for an allotted post.
The KC(M) toughened its stand against Mr George after a slew of allegations against the party leaders by him. He also alleged that Jose K Mani MP, son of KC(M) Chairman, had sexually abused solar case accused Saritha S Nair. But Saritha S Nair clarified that she was not abused by Jose K Mani, saying that Mr George was misusing her name for political gain.
The Chief Minister also clarified that the allegation against Jose K Mani was politically motivated. However, Mr George was not ousted from the Kerala Congress (M). If he leaves the party on his own, he will be disqualified from contesting elections for a period of six months.
