Raipur | Naxals continued to target security personnel in Chhattisgarh for the third consecutive day today, when they blew up an anti-landmine vehicle in Dantewada killing four personnel of Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) and grievously wounding eight others, police said.
The powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast took place near Cholnar CAF camp during a search and road opening operation by the force on the Kirandul-Palnar road this afternoon.
Soon after triggering the blast, about 50-60 armed Maoists, who had surrounded the forested area for the guerrilla attack, opened indiscriminate fire on the force leading to a fierce gunfight.
According to reports, four CAF personnel were martyred and eight others injured in the explosion and susbsequent exchange of fire between security personnel and Maoists which lasted for an hour.
All the injured have been shifted to National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) Hospital at Bacheli in critical condition.
