Thiruvananthapuram | Hundreds of activists of the Marxist-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) today laid siege to the state Secretariat here and collectorates in other districts to press for Finance Minister K M Mani’s resignation over the bar bribery allegations.
CPI(M) State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan inaugurated the agitation in front of the Secretariat where party workers laid siege since early morning.
Police removed the activists from a gate to clear the passage for Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, his Cabinet colleagues and other ministers. A Cabinet meeting was held as per schedule.
Addressing the activists, Mr Balakrishnan said Mr Mani had no moral right to continue after several allegations of corruption were levelled against him.
Police said the LDF agitation in the state capital and other districts was peaceful so far.
