Kozhikode | The Provident Fund Pensioners Federation (PFPF) in Kerala today demanded pension at central government scale as a whopping Rs 8.5 lakh crore was accumulated in government coffers as their pension contribution since 1952.
Talking to reporters here, PFPF Kerla President M P Ramakrishnan and General Secretary M T Suresh Babu said EPF pensioners had every right to get minimum pension, including DA on par with central government pensioners in the country. Quoting records they said a whopping Rs 8.5 lakh crore was lying in the government coffers as their contribution.
The government’s claim that there was scarcity of fund to pay pension was only aimed at hoodwinking millions of people in the country, they said, adding the government on several occasions had withdrawn huge amount out of the EPF for other purposes.
The government’s decision to fix the minimum pension at Rs 1,000 and later revoking it prompting the beneficiaries to go on warpath was aimed at diverting attention, they added.
